Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
At Snapscreens, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our subtitle and transcription app. Simply put: we don't collect, store, or track your data. Everything stays on your device.
1. Introduction and Contact Details
We are pleased that you are using SnapScipt (hereinafter "app"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when using our app.
SnapScript is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your data stays on your device – we do not collect, store, or transmit personal data to our servers.
Responsible for data processing regarding this app within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the Snapscreens Team, contact: [email protected].
2. Our Data Principles
Snapscreens does not collect any personal data from you. All content you create within the app (such as subtitles, transcripts, scripts, preferences, and settings) is stored locally on your device only.
We do not have access to your app data. We do not send your data to our servers. The only exception is Apple's Recognition service (see Section 6), which is operated by Apple under Apple's own Privacy Policy and is not controlled by Snapscreens.
Your data remains entirely under your control. We do not build profiles, serve ads, or use your content for any purpose other than running the app on your device.
3. Local Storage Only
SnapScript uses local device storage to save your information, including video metadata, subtitle files, and user preferences.
This data is never transmitted, backed up to cloud services, or shared with external parties without your explicit action.
If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is removed from your device.
4. No Tracking or Analytics
We do not use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, Firebase, or similar services) to track your app usage.
We do not collect information about how you use the app, what features you access, or how long you spend in the app.
We do not build profiles of your behavior.
5. In-App Purchases (RevenueCat)
In the case of in-app payments, payment is made via RevenueCat Inc., 300 Euclid Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94118, USA, to whom we pass on the information you provided during the ordering process together with the information about your order.
Your data will be passed on in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter b GDPR exclusively for the purpose of payment processing and only to the extent that it is necessary for this.
We have concluded an order processing contract with RevenueCat Inc., with which we oblige the provider to protect the data of the app users and not to pass it on to third parties.
Further information on data protection by RevenueCat can be found here: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
6. No Third-Party Integrations
SnapScript does not integrate with third-party services for data collection, advertising, or profiling.
We do not use your data for marketing, targeted advertising, or any other commercial purposes.
Your app usage is private and remains only on your device.
7. Device Permissions and Data Processing
SnapScript requests the following device permissions to deliver its core functionality. Each permission is used exclusively for its stated purpose and never for tracking, profiling, or advertising.
CAMERA: SnapScript uses the camera to record videos directly within the app. Recorded video is stored locally on your device only. No video footage is transmitted to our servers.
MICROPHONE: SnapScript uses the microphone to record audio as part of video recording, and to capture speech during the transcription process. Audio data is processed as described below under Speech Recognition.
PHOTO LIBRARY (READ): SnapScript requests read access to your photo library to allow you to import existing videos for caption editing. We do not scan, index, or collect metadata from your photo library beyond what you explicitly select.
PHOTO LIBRARY (WRITE): SnapScript requests write access to save your finished, captioned videos back to your photo library. No other data is written to your library.
SPEECH RECOGNITION: SnapScript transcribes the audio in your videos and generates animated word-by-word captions. All speech recognition is performed entirely on your device using on-device models — no audio data is ever sent to Apple's servers or any external server. Audio is processed locally and the resulting transcription (plain text and word timestamps) is stored only on your device. No audio, intermediate data, or transcription results ever leave your device.
You can review and revoke any of these permissions at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security on your device. Revoking a permission will disable the corresponding feature within the app.
8. Face Data and On-Device Face Tracking
SnapScript includes an optional Face Tracking to detect faces in your videos and position animated captions near the speaker's face.
WHAT FACE DATA IS PROCESSED: When you enable Face Tracking, SnapScript processes face bounding box coordinates and mouth openness values from the video frames on your device. This data is used solely to determine the position and timing of caption placement.
ON-DEVICE ONLY — NO COLLECTION OR TRANSMISSION: All face analysis is performed entirely on your device using Face tracking. No face data, facial geometry, biometric identifiers, or any derivative data is ever collected, stored on disk, transmitted to our servers, or shared with any third party.
NOT RETAINED: Face data (bounding boxes and mouth openness values) exists only in the app's memory (RAM) during the active session in which you use the Face Tracking feature. It is never written to disk, never persisted between sessions, and is permanently discarded when you close the project or quit the app. There is no retention period because the data is never stored.
NO THIRD-PARTY SHARING: Face data is never shared with any third party. Face detection runs entirely on-device. SnapScript does not use any third-party face recognition SDKs or cloud services.
USER CONTROL: The Face Tracking feature is entirely optional and disabled by default. You can enable or disable it at any time within the app. Disabling it immediately stops all face analysis and clears any face data from memory.
NOT USED FOR IDENTIFICATION: SnapScript does not use face data to identify, authenticate, or profile any individual. The feature is used exclusively for caption positioning purposes within the video editing workflow.
9. Contact and Communication
When contacting us (e.g. via email), personal data is collected only if you provide it. This data is stored and used exclusively for the purpose of answering your request.
The legal basis for processing this data is our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry in accordance with Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

10. User Content Ownership
All content you create within the app (subtitles, transcripts, scripts, and media metadata) belongs entirely to you.
The Snapscreens Team does not claim ownership of any user-generated content stored within the app.
You retain all rights to your personal data and content. We do not access, use, or share your content with third parties.
11. Website and Cookie Policy
This policy primarily focuses on data processing within the SnapScript App. Regarding the website (landing page), snapscreens.com, the following applies.
The snapscreens.com website does not use non-technical profiling, marketing, or third-party cookies. No external tracking tools (such as Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel) are used that require prior user consent.
The only tracking tools or cookies potentially used are strictly 'technical' or session cookies, necessary for the correct functioning and display of the page.
12. GDPR Compliance (EU Users)
For users in the European Union, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since we don't collect any personal data, most GDPR provisions don't apply. However, we fully respect your rights:
• Right to access: You have full access to all your local data at any time directly on your device.
• Right to deletion: You can delete all data by uninstalling the app. All locally stored data is permanently removed.
• Right to portability: You can export your data at any time using the app's export features.
• Right to object: Not applicable as we don't process your personal data on our servers.
For any GDPR-related inquiries, contact us at: [email protected]
13. Your Data Rights
Since SnapScript does not collect or store your data on our servers, you have complete control over your data at all times.
You can access, modify, or delete your data directly within the app or through your device settings.
You are not subject to GDPR data subject access requests or data portability requests because we do not hold your data.
14. Children's Privacy
SnapScript does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
Since SnapScript does not collect data, there are no special safeguards or parental consent requirements beyond what your device's privacy settings offer.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
We will notify you of significant changes by updating the 'Last Updated' date at the top of this policy.
Your continued use of the app following such notification constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
